The Blank Page Dilemma: Writers Block and getting through creative fogs.

Let's talk about The Blank Page Dilemma: Writers Block and getting through creative fogs.

I'm thrilled to share how I navigate through these moments, move forward, and keep those creative juices flowing.

The Blank Page Dilemma:

Imagine this: You're seated in front of your screen, brimming with anticipation to unleash your ideas. Your fingers are poised above the keyboard, ready to weave magic with words. But there's a challenge – the screen remains obstinately blank. It's that dreaded moment where the desire to create crashes into an invisible wall, and the page stares back at you with nothing but emptiness.

Embrace the Creative Pause

First things first, it's okay to pause. In a world that glorifies constant productivity, taking a step back to catch your breath is not only acceptable but necessary. When I hit a creative roadblock, I give myself the gift of a creative pause. A moment to breathe, reflect, and let the ideas marinate. Take a walk outside, or stand in the sun. Take 20 deep breaths, or do a timed breath like 2 in 4 out. Do something to embrace relaxation or fill your spirit.

Diversify Your Creative Toolkit

Creativity isn't a one-size-fits-all kind of deal. If the words aren't flowing, why not try your hand at a different form of expression? I often switch between writing, painting, and even video editing. The key is to keep the creative energy flowing, no matter the medium. Ask yourself what brings you excitement? What is something that you enjoyed when you were younger but stopped for some reason? Maybe you stopped dancing because someone said you wouldn't make it big. Perhaps someone was rude about your shading on an art piece you loved. Why do we stop doing things we love because someone else didn't love it? Confidence is the key to moving forward.

Nature Walks and Mindful Escapes

Sometimes, the best way to reignite creativity is to step outside the confines of your creative space. A stroll in nature, a mindful meditation session, or getting lost in the pages of a good book – these acts of escapism can be the perfect reset button for your creative mind. Sometimes exactly what you need to be creative again, is to forget about your creativity and look for it in other moments and places. There is something about grounding with the earth and taking in the vibration that can reset your energies. Both physically and mentally.

Embracing Failure as a Catalyst

Let's talk about the F-word – failure. It's a word that has so much attention for negative feelings, but it's one of our most underrated F words. Instead of fearing it, let's make friends with it. Failure isn't the end; it's a stepping stone. Each stumble is an opportunity to adjust, recreate, and build something even more extraordinary. Embrace the process, and watch your creativity flourish. If we fear failure we will never try anything we are afraid of. We can't get to success without trying.

Your Creative Journey Matters

Remember, everything you create is a journey, an experience waiting to unfold for others. So, whether you're writing, painting, or crafting in any form, your unique journey matters. Share your creations with the world and let your creative spirit inspire others. You can stay in the shadows and never try, you can try and fail, or you can try and something majical might happen.

The Mantra: Stop Stopping

In moments of self-doubt, remind yourself to stop stopping. Break through the barriers, create freely, and let your journey touch the world. What are you waiting for? Why not try something? One of the favorite things I learned about "trying" is if you spent 15 minutes a day trying something, by the end of the year you would be an expert just from your time spent. Isn't that an incredible thought? We underestimate what we can do in a year, and overestimate what we can do in a day. The fear of failing or moving slowly keeps us from seeing the long goal.

What do you think? What are some tips you have or issues you've experienced?
