I left a piece of my heart in Mexico. It all started as an inside joke with my husband. Though he wasn't my husband at the time. We were best friends almost the moment we met. We were in relationships with other people but we eventually ended things with our significant others at different times. Not long after we found a new path back to our friendship. We took a long drive one night just watching the sky and having no direction. We decided we might want to drive all the way to Mexico. We would laugh and joke about how we could leave all the stress and worries BEHIND if we could just find the sunshine in Mexico. We would say it in passing, or text each other. We would even send a social media comment here or there. It was simply our way to say, one day we would have a paradise. Eventually our friendship blossomed and another adventure started. I never dreamed I would have found paradise in him. To add cherries on top we eventually Honeymooned in Mexico.

Okay ok so. It was a very delayed honeymoon. We were only six years late! In 2017 I revealed 2 HUMONGOUS surprises to my family (husband and child). I planned the trips alone BUT my husband knew about the trip the three of us were going on. He was clueless that I also planned a trip to Mexico.

Lettt me tell you about the time I failed Incredulously to plan a surprise reaction video. It was the absolute flattest flop. If I'm being honest I rushed it and I didn't have a solid reveal. You know those awesome reveal presents where it's a huge gesture? Like a flash mob. A pretend gift or set of gifts that implies a trip. A box with a puppy. A parent returning home from the military. You know the ones.. The ones that you and I both LIVE for. The tear inducing, tissue NEEDING, can't get enough of it. I have to share this! I have to watch it again! THOSE videos. I wanted that so badly. And I planned and executed so poorly. My family was so confused. They COULDN'T enjoy what they didn't understand. 😂 They were hardly excited once they figured it out. (mostly annoyed with me) I sort of also timed it wrong. Here's the thing I am not a patient person so the moment I confirmed the trips I started thinking about when I was going to tell them. So I decided that around November December (2017) I was going to tell them about the trips. Even though the trips didn't take place until after next summer. I didn't think that through very clearly. My dopamine pathway was more concerned with my lack of patience than I was with theirs. They were incredibly sad that we weren't immediately going.

The confusion and the long-term wait, made for a lackluster at best Reveal video. Definitely one I would not be sharing with the group. Here's a recap if your still here. All that really happens is

1. You see my family stumble around the house after reading cue cards that won't stand up in an order that don't makes sense.

2. As an added level of difficulty we will add puzzles that are way too long.

3. Hiding places that are unoriginal and quickly thrown together.

4. Word specific clues that are jumbled to add I'm dyslexic and I'm pretty sure there was a typo.

5. A folder of only printed pictures of a few key points of our vacation. With no actual words saying we are going to Mexico.

Needless to say I was sassy and disappointed in their reactions and they were confused and happy. Nonetheless all of that fumbling and all of that mini drama led to our two most important vacations of our family. Traveling brought a spirit to our family that we hope to continue on for the rest of our lives. #livewhereyouvacation

My husband and I went to Xcaret Hotel in Quintana Roo Playa Del Carmen, Mexico in 2018. We loved it so much that on the airplane ride home we started planning our next trip. I told him there was no way that we could do it the next year. He kind of laughed at me and said are you sure you don't want to come back again next year? I seriously encouraged him that it was not in our cards. So we both won that argument because even though we did return in 2019 it was a little over 13 months later. So technically over a year right.

On our family trip we went to Universal Orlando studios in 2018 to celebrate our family becoming a whole unit. My husband adopted our child officially. This vacation led us to fall in love with Florida more than we ever had before So much so that in 2021 we up and moved.

So we live where we vacation now. And I'm ready to create and share all the fun things I have learned and researched. Unlike my vacation reveal planning 😂 my vacation planning is top notch. I have been able to learn all of the ins and outs that are not obvious on the websites. And visiting the places in person really puts a different perspective on things. This blog is going to be about all of our adventures I've taken the last few years and then some. Hang on to my blog, let's go for a ride. Stay tuned and letttt me tell you about all the times....

(2023 update - since this time, we have left Florida and I am starting over a year long hope, more adventures to come)
